Goff's Caye - A Paradise Island In Belize

So you want to go to the Caribbean and just can't choose between all the paradisiac beaches and dreamy islands? When it comes to the Caribbean, there's so much that is worth visiting that it can become quite overwhelming. Everything over there looks like pure paradise, almost too good to be true.

From the Bahamas, to the Dominican Republic and the Turks and Caicos Islands, everything just seems to keep adding to the bucket list. But have you considered Belize? This island is one of the reasons why you should look up this amazing country.

Just off the coast of Belize there is an island that you should know about: Goff's Caye. Surrounded by turquoise water water, this tiny island is only home to a small tasca and some restrooms. The rest is just palm trees and white sand. There are no big Hotels in sight and it is so isolated that it can only be reached by boats which go there on day-tours, taking tourists to fall in love with the place.

While there, you will be close to something most people don't know about: the second largest coral reef in the World. That's right, the World's second largest coral reef is located straight off the coast of Belize, even though most people are not aware of it because the much more famous Great Barrier Reef in Australia constantly overshadows it.

The coral reef off Belize's coast is so diverse that it contains 500 species of fish, 70 species of hard corals, 36 species of soft coral and at least hundreds of invertebrates. And the best part is that 90% of the reef is still to be researched, so we will in all likeliness get to know of even more diversity in its ecosystem.

With such an amazing natural beauty nearby, visitors to Belize simply have to go out there and experience snorkeling over the coral reef. It was one of the best experiences in my whole life and I can't wait to do it again.

Snorkeling at Belize's Coral Reef

After snorkeling over the Coral Reef and admiring all its exotic creatures, it was time to go back to the paradise island of Goff's Caye and enjoy the beach.

With its warm and shallow waters that were the most crystal-clear I have ever seen, this island was the stuff of dreams. To make it even greater, we were greeted by some other lovely creatures we didn't even expect to see: stingrays. What a magical feeling it was to see them in the wild, swimming peacefully right next to us.

Still not believing we had actually been lucky enough to see stingrays swim right past us, we enjoyed the rest of our perfect day on this unbelievably gorgeous island that we were so happy to have found. It is the absolute most beautiful place I have ever been to.

To finish the day in an even more perfect way, we even saw dolphins from the boat on the way out. How not to fall in love with this island?
